Jackson and Teton County Push for Transit Agency with Taxing Authority
Minutes included in the Nov. 2 joint-meeting packet show Jackson and Teton County told staff to work with Wyoming legislators on enabling a regional transportation agency that could levy a property tax, sales tax, and fees to support transit.
Teton County commissioners and the Jackson Town Council directed staff to work with the county’s Wyoming legislative delegation on draft enabling legislation for a regional transportation agency with authority to levy “a property tax, sales tax and/or fees” to support transit and other transportation priorities, according to the joint-meeting minutes included in the Nov. 2 packet. The county approved the direction 4-1 (with Commissioner Wes Gardner opposed), and the town approved it unanimously. MJM Joint Meeting Minutes

The part commuters will feel is whether the bill asks voters for a dedicated revenue stream, and how quickly that can stabilize service levels and frequency.
