Top stories
- Rock slide on Teton Pass (WY-22). At 13:18 dispatch broadcast a traffic hazard: softball-size rocks covering both lanes of WY-22 about a mile east of the summit, with vehicles able to drive around; WHP was notified. By 14:05 a unit on a WYDOT-side talkgroup reported the rocks were off the road.
- Firearms removed after overnight welfare concern. At 00:18 a caller asked for a response to help friends secure firearms from a subject who was asleep. At 21:20 dispatch updated units that the subject "from last night" was with family and that all alcohol and firearms had been removed from his vehicle.
- Erratic driver stopped on South US-89. A 12:50 county broadcast described a red Dodge Ram northbound from Fall Creek, unable to maintain lane or speed; the complaint was relayed to WHP on the WYDOT channel at 12:53. At 13:01 a deputy got behind the truck and contacted it as it pulled onto Deer Drive near the Yeti building.
- Stolen-vehicle lookout from across the pass. At 15:42 dispatch put out an attempt-to-locate for a blue 2020 Subaru Outback stolen out of Teton County, Idaho, last seen near Main Street in Driggs two days earlier.
- Prescribed burn draws public attention. Brush 78 headed to Butler Creek for a prescribed burn at 08:17. At 13:46 a deputy reported being flagged down twice about smoke visible off Salt Creek and confirmed it was a controlled burn; the brush unit cleared Taylor Mountain at 16:02. Engine 12 was separately placed out of service at 15:49.
- No-injury parking-lot crash at Movie Works. At 15:33 a deputy was sent to the Movie Works plaza on South US-89 for a reported collision between a white Ford F-150 and a gray Ford Transit, no injuries; follow-up calls with one driver were routed through dispatch around 16:12.
Also on the air
A routine shoulder-season day dominated by traffic work on Highway 22 and South US-89: roughly two dozen plate checks and 15 records checks, four traffic stops (including a plate-less Ford Raptor at the South 89 Maverik at 23:27 — driver checked clear), and a dead deer in the northbound lane of South 89 near High School Road at 05:54. A commercial alarm on South Glenwood Street at 06:33 — the fourth at that business in under a month — was canceled a minute later. Three parking complaints (triple-parked vehicles blocking a roadway, a car left several days on Blair Drive, a Suburban blocking a spot on East Karns), a late noise complaint over upstairs soccer-playing at a West Hanson apartment, DFS-referred child-welfare follow-ups handled by phone, a fraud report already filed with the FTC, and a threats/welfare follow-up on a loop road (name garbled). Medic 20 ran an airport–St. John's transfer with a flight crew mid-morning; jail-to-court transports ran all day, including a round trip to Dubois. WYDOT's weigh-in-motion system flagged three overweight trucks crossing Teton Pass (roughly 77,000, 85,000 and 72,000 lbs). START bus had a driver briefly off route near South Park Loop (talked back on by 08:24) and recurring AVL/login and engine-warning-light issues; a wildlife officer searched on foot for a trespasser near Miller Butte and cleared without incident.
By the numbers
1,327 transmissions across 424 exchanges (211 short status-only exchanges omitted from the log). Busiest talkgroup: TG 1801 Teton County law dispatch (782). Busiest hour: 15:00–16:00 (164 transmissions). Categories: 30 medical (mostly Fremont Co. paging), 24 plate checks, 15 records checks, 13 transit, 5 traffic complaints, 4 each crashes/traffic stops/noise-parking, 3 fire, 2 alarms, plus 158 status and 159 unclassified.
Caveats
- A large share of today's traffic is not Teton County: TG 13751 (74 transmissions) is Fremont County EMS paging out of Lander — including an overnight stabbing call there — and TG 109/TG 113 items are statewide WHP and Fremont County reports. TG 5960 (66 transmissions) was a statewide radio-check net.
- Whisper garbled many proper nouns: road names like "Jack F Meadows Road," "Pokerfloss Loop," "Burger Lane" and "Elk Runling" are likely mis-transcriptions, and unit numbers/phonetics in records traffic are unreliable. A 17:39 exchange may describe a minor crash but is too garbled to confirm.
- TG 1812 and TG 6586 are unidentified talkgroups; TG 1812 appears to be a school-bus operation, and several entries from both may not be county public-safety traffic.
