The Jackson/Teton County Housing Authority is set to vote Nov. 4 on a $900,000 Housing Preservation Program request from the Presbyterian Church of Jackson Hole to put Workforce Rental Deed Restrictions on nine units the church is building (part of a 21-unit project) meeting packet. Staff says the program pays up to $100,000 per unit, or 10% of value (whichever is less), and the church submitted appraisals valuing the nine units from $1.25 million to $2.275 million. The units are scheduled for completion in fall 2027; staff says funds would not be disbursed until the units are complete and the restrictions are recorded. Tenants would have to meet workforce eligibility before move-in and requalify annually.
The packet says the Board of County Commissioners and Town Council created the Housing Preservation Program in January 2021 to keep homes from sliding out of the local workforce pool meeting packet. In February 2022, housing staff asked the town and county to expand the program to allow purchases of Workforce Rental deed restrictions capped at 10% of value and $100,000 per unit Joint Information Meeting agenda documentation.
