Meeting:

Shooting Star pickleball courts ride on a 4,182-square-foot land swap

On Oct. 26, the Planning Commission will review a proposal to enable two new pickleball courts next to Shooting Star’s existing tennis courts by swapping 4,182 square feet between adjacent parcels and aligning zoning to avoid split-zoning.

Shooting Star JH, LLC and New Moraine, LLC are asking Teton County to approve a Planned Unit Development amendment and related zoning changes that would clear the way for two new pickleball courts beside the existing tennis courts at Shooting Star in Teton Village. The plan would move 4,182 square feet of land currently used for parking and drive aisles on the New Moraine tract into Lot 19 (East Park), where the courts would be built, while shifting an equivalent 4,182 square feet of Lot 19 (mostly landscaping, road, and parking) back to New Moraine as a net zero swap, according to the Planning Commission packet. Staff says the amendment would not add development rights or square footage, and notes no public comments received as of the report.

The county record shows commissioners previously delayed an earlier, simpler boundary adjustment for the same idea. On June 2, the Board of County Commissioners voted to postpone BDJ2026-0001 (the Shooting Star boundary adjustment) “to a date uncertain,” according to the commission minutes. The current approach adds zoning map and PUD boundary adjustments to avoid creating a split-zoned lot, as described in the packet.
