Jackson council votes 3-2 to deny Hotel Jackson valet zone on North Cache

The Town Council voted 3-2 on September 28 to deny Hotel Jackson's request for two 15-minute valet parking spaces on North Cache Street, siding with staff and WYDOT over losing public parking.

The Jackson Town Council voted 3-2 on September 28, 2026 to deny Hotel Jackson's request to turn two public parking spaces on North Cache Street into a 15-minute valet zone. Applicant Hal Hutchinson sought about 50 feet of curb frontage next to the hotel's new wing, since the staff report says the hotel "proposes to use the 15-minute parking for hotel guest/valet parking." Staff recommended denial because the Wyoming Department of Transportation, which owns North Cache Street as State Highway 89, found "valet parking specifically is not an authorized use of public on-street parking" there, and because the change would eliminate two public three-hour spaces near Town Square. Devon Viehman and Kevin Regan voted against the denial, wanting the spaces approved; Alyson Spery, Jonathan Schechter and the rest of the council carried the motion "to deny the requested 15-minute parking along 135 North Cache Street frontage," according to the minutes included in the October 19 packet. The record shows no earlier Council action on this request.
