Hit-and-run at Jackson high school caps a busy enforcement day; two commercial fire alarms, both false

Non-injury hit-and-run at a Jackson high school lot (16:09–16:22).

Top stories

  • Non-injury hit-and-run at a Jackson high school lot (16:09–16:22). Reported by a parent of one of the drivers; units 2272 and 2235 responded, 2235 taking it as primary. A suspect vehicle was identified — an expired Wyoming temporary tag traced to Colorado, possibly a dark SUV (plate partially obscured, omitted). Cleared needing follow-up. Not named on air; likely Jackson Hole High School.

  • Redmond St closed both directions, Hall to Kelly (from ~08:09, all day). A START driver flagged the closure to the bus barn as newly in effect; detour runs Willow→Cache, with a significant dip where Kelly crosses Cache St (open but rough). Reconfirmed through the afternoon (16:12, 17:10, 17:56) — one shuttle got stuck on Cali near Redmond ~17:10 and had to reverse out (no passengers aboard). Advisories to use Hansen rather than Kelly.

  • Commercial fire alarm, Teton Shadows (13:58–14:06). Engine 11, Battalion 1 and Tender 17 paged to E Sagebrush Dr (road name garbled on air); Tender 17 held in-house. Crews found a two-story wood-frame multi-residential building, nothing showing; cleared 14:06 as a false/smoking alarm. A second commercial fire alarm — downtown Center St, "Tiki Tower" [suspect] — paged duty officer and Engine 11 at 17:15; no clearance was heard in the log.

  • Medical, Blair Place apartments (17:59–18:33). Possible panic attack, alcohol involved; law enforcement requested 18:04. First reported as a male patient, corrected on air to female. Medic 10 transported to St. John's, arriving 18:33.

  • Overnight medical, E Trap Club Rd area (02:29–03:10). A man in his 60s vomiting blood; response upgraded from alpha to delta as a possible serious hemorrhage. Medic 10 on scene 02:47, transported to St. John's 03:10.

  • Reckless driver on US-89 south of the county line (20:11–20:23). Alpine-area WHP (TG 109) tracked a black sedan passing oncoming traffic and running both directions off the road near mm 120–121, later located at Wintergreen Ave in Alpine. Lincoln County traffic, but on the US-89 approach toward Hoback.

Also on the air

Heavy traffic enforcement, mostly verbal warnings: US-26/287 east toward Moran (Hatchet, Togwotee Mtn Lodge, mm ~10.5–19), US-89 south (Deer Dr, Game Creek, Snake River KOA) and WY-22 (Wilson, mm 11, Coyote Canyon); one speed citation (15:49) and one no-DL citation (23:12, car released to another driver). Two residential burglar alarms — W Snow King Ave (04:44, nothing found by 04:55) and Wilson off a creek road (20:58, house secure by 21:22). A reported Westpac Saddle Dr disturbance over a truck unloading in the roadway (08:35) appears to have been reclassified as a private-property collision. Also: theft report at Hoback Jct cleared with follow-up (09:36); a welfare check on E Snow King Ave (code four, 15:23); 2–3 harassment follow-ups; a "cold" collision report (14:44); a found propane cylinder on Town Square sent for destruction (10:45); a trash-bag hazard on S US-89 at High School Rd (09:18); and a late WY-22 lane-blocking hazard near "the sand pit" (22:10, single garbled line). A bus driver reported a crowd dangerously close to a bull moose at the "Moose Jam" near the WY-22 roundabout (16:25), with dispatch asked to notify the park. START ran several transfers and relief swaps (Maple Way passenger hand-off 15:58, Teton Village transfer at Albertsons 18:24, a 40-foot bus swap at Miller Park 19:13).

By the numbers

  • Transmissions: 1,746. Exchanges: 518 (243 short status-only exchanges omitted from the log).
  • Busiest talkgroup: TG 1801 Teton County law dispatch, 1,015 transmissions (~58%). Next: TG 1812 (school-bus dispatch, see Caveats) 241; TG 1820 START transit 117; TG 1807 JH Fire/EMS 101.
  • Busiest hour: 12:00 (184 transmissions), then 15:00 (176) and 16:00 (168). Near-silent 01:00–05:00.
  • Categories: status 188, unclassified 186, medical 35, plate-check 32, transit 22, records-check 21, fire 7, crash 6, traffic-stop 5, animal 5, traffic-complaint 4, alarm 3, hazard 2, welfare 1, domestic 1. Note: medical count is inflated by ~20 out-of-county pages (Teton had 2 actual EMS transports); crash 6 includes 2 out-of-county pages.

Caveats

  • Much of today's traffic is not Teton County. TG 13751 is Lander/Fremont Co. EMS paging (its "Hwy 26 mp 58 grass fire" is Dubois/Crowheart, not Moran); TG 109 is statewide WHP, mostly I-80 corridor and Sweetwater/Uinta items today; TG 1404, 113, 6382/6586/6600/14909 and TG 0 are WYDOT/utility/other-county. These are kept out of Top stories and inflate the category counts above.
  • TG 1812 is labeled "unidentified" in the stats but is clearly school-bus dispatch (bus barn, schools, rec center); other WYDOT/utility talkgroups in the log differ from the stats block's labels. Treat labels as tentative.
  • Transcription quality: Whisper garbled many road/business names (e.g. "Sage West"/E Sagebrush; a Wilson creek road) and unit numbers; [suspect]-marked lines are low-confidence. No clearance was heard on the 17:15 Center St fire alarm.
