The Town of Jackson wants to know if dogs should be allowed in town parks, and it's asking through an anonymous, five-minute survey open through October 30. The "Dogs in Town Parks Survey" asks about off-leash versus on-leash rules, possible restricted hours, and whether dogs should be kept away from playgrounds Parks and Recreation Department Staff Report. Right now town code bans dogs from every town park outright. Staff plan to bring the survey results to the Town Council on December 21, with any rule changes aimed at taking effect before summer 2027.

The Town Council voted unanimously in August 2026 to direct staff to start the process, with staff estimating 35 to 50 hours of work, including three ordinance readings, before anything changes Town Council Regular Meeting agenda. The current ban covers nine named parks, including Town Square, North Park, Miller Park, Phil Baux Park and Snow King Ball Park Municipal Code Update: Title 7, Animals.
