Bear inside Teton Village home sets off fire alarm.
Top stories
- Bear inside Teton Village home sets off fire alarm. At 21:34 Teton Village firefighters (TG 1807) were paged to a residential fire alarm on North Granite Ridge Road; after three alarm trips, crews on scene reported at 21:42 that a black bear inside the house had caused the alarm and some flooding. Dispatch contacted what sounds like Game & Fish [suspect: transcribed "English"], which advised by phone only on hazing the bear out; fire units cleared at 22:50 leaving the caretaker to monitor. Sheriff's units took over, and at 23:02 a unit reported "we got the bear out of the house."
- Intruder scare on Rachel Way resolved — it was a shampoo bottle. At 22:42 units were diverted to a Rachel Way residence where the caller, locked in a bedroom, believed someone was in the home after hearing a door slam. Deputies were on scene by 22:48 and cleared at 22:51: the noise was a fallen shampoo bottle, "put back on the shelf."
- Overdue 85-year-old — unresolved in the log. At 21:45 dispatch reported a missing-person/welfare check: an 85-year-old woman was supposed to be riding (ride-share) from Teton Village to the Center for the Arts and her friends could no longer reach her. No further traffic on this call appears in the day's log.
- Reported physical domestic on West Broadway. At 21:26 multiple units responded to a West Broadway business for a reported physical domestic between a man and a woman. The callers argued in Spanish, took the phone from each other, and refused identifying information or a callback number; officers found nothing visible at the business (the RP said both parties work there) and all units cleared by about 21:45.
- US-89 driving complaints and a lane-blocking motorist assist. Reckless/impaired-driving reports: a maroon Ford F-150 unable to maintain its lane northbound on US-89 from Astoria at 11:52 (WHP rebroadcast 11:54), a FedEx semi driving recklessly northbound from about mm 101 near Alpine at 12:10, and a yellow dump-style truck towing an unlit flatbed northbound from the transfer station at 19:39. Separately, from 20:13 a deputy assisted a disabled Porsche two miles east of Alpine that was blocking half the northbound lane; a flatbed tow to a Jackson hotel was arranged (~1-hour ETA) and the scene cleared by 22:09.
- Four fire-alarm calls, zero fires. West Pintail Lane 11:02 (nothing showing, stood down ~11:07); a north-county residence 15:34 (stand-down page one minute later); the Granite Ridge bear at 21:34; and a commercial/apartment alarm at 23:46 caused by shower steam — residents briefly evacuated, alarm reset, fire units stood down 23:50.
Also on the air
A routine mix otherwise: four Teton County medical calls (a 30-year-old woman with dizziness after a recent head injury on Veronica Lane at 04:48, an elderly woman with fever on East Hanson at 10:36, a 94-year-old with chest pain at Sage Living Center at 20:23 — all transported to St. John's — plus two Medic 20 air-ambulance transfers via the airport at 20:09 and 23:06). One non-injury fender-bender on North Cache at 10:25. Roughly two dozen plate checks and a handful of traffic stops (mostly warnings, one citation at 13:43). Two parking complaints in the morning, a midnight noise complaint near Budge Drive cleared with a warning, a trespass from the Cowboy Bar, an intoxicated-patron removal on East Broadway, and a morning BOLO for a 2026 Ford F-250 stolen out of Casper. START bus traffic (81 transmissions) covered radio checks, lane assignments, a fare/language issue at the Hampton Inn, a surprise navigation detour near Pearl, and a tire-noise check that ended with a driver swap at Miller Park.
By the numbers
- 1,191 transmissions across 311 exchanges (119 short status-only exchanges omitted from the log).
- Busiest talkgroup: TG 1801 Teton County law dispatch, 792 transmissions; then TG 1807 Fire/EMS (186) and TG 1820 START (81).
- Busiest hours: 21:00 (156), 23:00 (151), 00:00 (150) — a heavy late evening.
- Categories: status 113, unclassified 71, medical 36 (note: 12 of those are Fremont County paging, not Teton traffic), plate-check 23, traffic-complaint 13, fire 12, transit 12, records-check 9, traffic-stop 5, animal 4, welfare 3, crash 2, domestic 2, alarm 2, suspicious 2.
Caveats
- Out-of-county traffic in the totals: TG 13751 is Lander/Fremont County EMS paging (12 medical pages); TG 109 and the mutual-aid channel carried WHP complaints mostly on I-80 and in Fremont/Natrona counties; a 10:50 welfare check near Big Sandy was a Pinedale Game & Fish unit (Sublette County). None are Teton County incidents. The mutual-aid talkgroup (labeled TG 113 in the log) also doesn't appear in the stats table.
- Probable coverage gap: zero transmissions 03:00–04:00 and only 6 each in the 17:00 and 18:00 hours on a Saturday evening — more likely a receiver/decode gap than a quiet county; an 18:47 WHP block is a one-word fragment.
- Transcription quality: several locations are garbled and marked [suspect] below ("65 West Saloni," "The Verge"/"Howard Johnson Road," "Poppy's," two fire-alarm street names), the agency called for the bear is a guess, and a 07:15 transmission containing only "accident" had no readable follow-up. Unit numbers and plates throughout are unreliable.
