Possible structure fire at Wendy's, West Broadway (08:19). Dispatch paged Battalion/DC-2, Engines 11, 61 and 71, Medic 60 and Truck 16 for smoke from the kitchen ceiling with an electrical smell and heat; employees were evacuating. Nothing showing on arrival (08:23); most apparatus canceled by 08:25, fire ops moved to a secondary channel, and a roof check at 08:40 found no hot spots — command's read was that something flashed inside a greasy duct and burned itself out. All units clear 09:03 (TG 1807/1808/1801).
Vehicle vs. pedestrian, South US-89 at Meadowlark (18:30). First aired garbled ("vehicle versus bedroom" [suspect]) but confirmed on follow-up traffic: a unit collected the pedestrian's contact info and released him at the scene (18:37); the deputy cleared with a state report at 18:49 (TG 1801). Dispatch said a disturbance at Whole Foods — one vehicle blocking another in — was "likely related"; units resolved that peacefully with store management by ~19:17.
Disturbance, Buffalo Valley Road near Moran (18:17). Elderly male with severe dementia reportedly violent toward occupants of the house; two sheriff's units responded and an EMS captain who is a family friend assisted (18:55–19:12). Cleared 19:42 — subject took his medication and settled for the night (TG 1801).
Residential alarm with ambiguous scene, North Nolan Trail (13:50). The responding deputy found papers scattered in a home office with the owner out of town and asked whether anyone could walk the house (14:14). Dispatch briefly couldn't raise him by radio or phone and sent a second unit (14:21); the homeowner said the office is normally messy. No confirmed entry; deputies pinned a follow-up for night shift (15:41).
Commercial-vehicle enforcement on Teton Pass summit (roughly 08:55–12:05). A county unit worked trucks at the top of WY-22: a verbal warning for failing to check brakes (10:54), a second verbal warning plus a motorist assist that ended with a disabled Dodge code-4 off the roadway (12:04). Separately at 06:20 a driving complaint — silver BMW, Idaho plate, eastbound WY-22 passing on double yellows — was relayed to WHP (TG 1801/6386).
Bear cubs drawing a crowd near Lake Creek Bridge (13:18). A START driver reported two black bear cubs ~150–200 yards north of the bridge off the highway, sow not seen, with cars gathering and people crossing the road; the driver asked that the Sheriff's Office be alerted for a safety scan (TG 1820).
Also on the air
Routine texture: ~25 plate checks and ~24 records checks, much of it pass/Broadway traffic work overnight; two welfare checks resolved quickly (a confused elderly man on West Broadway picked up by family at 10:18; a possible suicidal juvenile on Whitehorse Drive, contact made and cleared by 12:10); a cold hit-and-run reported at a West Broadway property-management office (13:41); three residential fire alarms besides Wendy's (Tall Timber Road stood down by the alarm company, West Blue Mountain Road walked and cleared, North Fish Creek Road paged at 21:01 with no outcome logged); one medical transport to St. John's for chest pain (17:24–17:38); teens throwing footballs over cars near Little Acorns Academy (17:36); a theft report of items from Dornan's with a bag and phone found in the street [suspect, 07:26]; ~5 parking complaints (Sagebrush, the high school, a hotel loading dock on North Glenwood, a private lot, a stuck Kia in the parking garage); WYDOT weigh-in-motion crossings on WY-22. START buses fought Navineo AVL glitches on two coaches, lifted the Gros Ventre Street detour by 07:32 [road name suspect], reunited a rider with her phone, and struck out on a set of lost keys. TG 1812 — unlabeled in the system but clearly school-district bus dispatch — carried a morning evac drill at Wilson School with covered pickups, and all-day student-transport coordination (no individual detail reported).
By the numbers
1,677 transmissions across 543 exchanges (283 short status-only exchanges omitted from the log). Busiest talkgroup: TG 1801 Teton County law dispatch (933), then TG 1812 school-bus dispatch (234) and TG 1820 START (161). Busiest hour: 14:00 (153 transmissions), with 08:00 (150) and 17:00 (147) close behind. Caveats
- Out-of-county traffic inflates the counts. TG 13751 is Fremont County EMS paging (the 05:33 US-20 rollover and 13:26 Ray Lake brush fire — both canceled — plus an 18:00 cardiac arrest page in Lander); TG 109 (WHP statewide) and TG 113 carried I-80 and Riverton/Hudson complaints; TG 6386/6403 mix Jackson WIM traffic with Rock Springs/Evanston chatter, including a 13:46 disabled-truck/pilot-car operation whose location can't be resolved from the log.
- Possible coverage gap on the fire. Wendy's fire ops moved to "Fire 2" (TG 1808) at 08:23, which isn't in the stats breakdown; the talkgroup totals sum to 1,653 of 1,677 transmissions, so some ops traffic may be missing.
- Transcription quality. Whisper garbled several key lines ("vehicle versus bedroom" = pedestrian; "Grosvenor/Gravant" = likely Gros Ventre; "Morton Hotel" and several road names uncertain). Unit numbers and spelled plates in this log should not be treated as reliable.
