Top stories
- Armed, suicidal man tracked up Mosquito Creek drainage; deputies withdraw to de-escalate. Starting about 20:18, Sheriff's units (2260, 2259, 2222) staged near the Mosquito Creek trailhead off the Fall Creek/Hoback side for a suicidal subject reported armed with a handgun; dispatch (TG 1801) relayed phone-ping locations as he moved back toward the trailhead and Natrona County provided vehicle info. At 20:45 deputies elected not to contact him in person and pulled out as he got close; his truck was confirmed parked at the trailhead by about 20:58, and at 21:01 the Veterans Crisis Line asked to speak with the handling deputy about disposition. No injuries reported on air.
- Texted threat leads to late-night operation at a Powderhorn Lane apartment. At 21:34 a unit was sent a report of a threat received by text; units 730 and 771 quietly approached an apartment complex off Powderhorn Lane (near Target), reported an "on view" at 21:48, ran a subject, and conducted what they called a positive 10-100 in one of the units (evidence bags were requested). Cleared with a report and citation by 22:30. The exact nature of the 10-100 was not stated on air.
- Report of ~50 underage drinkers on Fish Creek Road in Wilson. At 23:02 dispatch sent four units (2270, 2245, 2244, 2222) for what the caller described as at least 50 apparently underage kids walking the road with beers, dressed for a dance, with party buses and cars parked along Fish Creek Road. Deputies ran several juveniles, issued verbal warnings, noted "kids running in the woods," and stopped at least one vehicle speeding out of the area (driver checked sober). Units cleared by about 23:48.
- Attempted door kick-in at a Melody Ranch home. At 00:25 two units responded to Fallen Leaf Lane for a man — white sweatshirt, hat and mask, about six feet tall — who tried to kick in a door, last seen southbound on foot. A unit (2245) noted a similar group-of-kids door-kicking call in the area the prior weekend, and dispatch found several recent aggressive-knocking reports in Melody Ranch. Area checked; no capture reported on air.
- Two fire calls, both resolved without incident. At 13:05 Battalion 2 with engines 21/61 and squad 69 responded to a propane leak on West Ravenhaven Road (TG 1807); it was a faulty pressure-relief device on an outdoor tank, resources stood down by 13:21. At 16:26 a fire-investigation page went out for a third-hand report of a possible vegetation start near Red Top Meadows, up the North Fork/South Fork drainage; Forest Service sent two rangers, county resources staged at Station 2, and by 17:06 all fire/EMS resources were released after it appeared to be deep backcountry (federal jurisdiction).
- Two arrests out of overnight/midday calls. A ~02:08 stop in the Broadway area ended with two people detained after a 10-100 and field sobriety tests; one was transported to jail at 02:53. At 12:42 units found an intoxicated man trying a caller's car door outside the drugstore/liquor store on the 800 block of West Broadway; he was arrested (10-95) at 12:52.
Also on the air
A steady traffic-enforcement day: roughly 34 plate checks and 25 records checks, with at least 7 stops cleared, mostly verbal warnings for speed, tail lights, headlights and lane violations along US-89, WY-22 and in town. Three parking complaints (hospital, Super 8, Blair Drive), a dog-in-vehicle animal complaint at Target (17:45), a false CO alarm at Fireside Resort on North Moose-Wilson Road cleared as a faulty detector (00:43–00:59), a passerby-reported alarm at the Snow King Events Center that checked clear (09:07), a false residential fire alarm in Teton Village (21:30–21:43), two cold/minor collisions handled by phone (18:29, 18:44), an automated crash-detection alert from a Rivian that turned out to be light damage only (08:39), juveniles knocking merchandise off shelves at a Hoback store (14:05), a loud-party complaint on Melody Ranch Drive (22:04), and an unfounded 911 open line (22:35). WHP cleared two dead moose from US-89 north of Alpine by 07:33, and START buses warned each other about two moose near the South Park Loop/Blair stop (19:14) amid otherwise routine lane assignments, schedule questions and radio gremlins.
By the numbers
- 1,651 transmissions across 369 exchanges (117 short status-only exchanges omitted from the log).
- Busiest talkgroup: TG 1801 Teton County law dispatch, 1,253 transmissions — 76% of traffic. Next: TG 6386 Highway/WYDOT (143), TG 1807 Fire/EMS (97), TG 1820 START (76).
- Busiest hour: 21:00–22:00 with 191 transmissions (the Powderhorn operation plus heavy traffic enforcement); 23:00 hour second at 157.
- Categories: status 156, unclassified 89, plate-check 34, records-check 25, medical 23, transit 9, animal 7, traffic-stop 7, crash 4, fire 3, noise-parking 3, plus scattered suspicious, 911-open-line, domestic, alarm, welfare and hazard calls.
Caveats
- Not all of this is Teton County: TG 13751 is Fremont County EMS paging out of Lander (~60 transmissions — the Shoshoni structure fire at 12:12, cancelled 12:33, and the Highway 26 milepost 103 injury crash at 09:16 are Fremont County incidents), TG 109 is statewide WHP (includes Evanston/I-80 traffic), and some TG 6386 traffic was Rock Springs-area I-80 (22:24 trailer partially in roadway; 23:23 injured elk on the interstate).
- Machine transcription is rough tonight: street names like "Ravenhaven Road," "West Gale and North Gash" (possibly Gill and Cache) and several unit numbers are uncertain, and radio codes (notably "10-100") are reported verbatim without interpretation. Lines marked [suspect] are low-confidence.
- A lone 01:33 transmission referencing an assault was a single garbled exchange with no further traffic — nature and disposition unknown. Traffic between 03:00 and 05:00 was nearly nil, consistent with an overnight lull rather than a confirmed coverage gap.
