Jackson council to review options for the Parklet Program
Jackson’s Town Council on Oct. 5 is set to discuss a scoping report that recommends keeping the Parklet Program largely intact for 2027, including the current $2,000 per parking-space annual fee, while laying out alternatives up to dissolving the program.
Jackson’s Town Council on Oct. 5 will take up a Parklet Program scoping report that outlines four paths forward, from dissolving the program to leaving it in place with minimal changes and the current $2,000-per-parking-space annual fee structure agenda packet. The report says nine businesses used 19 parking spaces in 2026 and paid $38,000 in fees, and staff recommends not changing the program for summer 2027 while avoiding a duplicative fee study ahead of the upcoming Integrated Transportation Plan update agenda packet.
The record shows Council began this year’s policy reset with a March 16 “check-in” on the parklets, after the first three-year run of the codified program ended in 2025 March 16 packet. In April, Council amended the town code to make parklet encroachment permits annual April 13 packet. A June parking work plan memo later flagged the parklet scoping report as an October agenda item June 1 packet.
