Serious injury crash, Highway 22 at milepost 11 (Teton Pass).
Top stories
- Serious injury crash, Highway 22 at milepost 11 (Teton Pass). Paged 07:48 (TG 1807/1801): two vehicles, one male patient unconscious in the roadway, bystander CPR started; engines 21 and 61, medics 10/50/60, rescue 24, Battalion 3, MD-1, sheriff's units and WHP responded and the highway was fully closed by 08:04. Both airships initially declined for weather; a pulse was regained ~07:59 and ROSC confirmed 08:38. Fog blocked landings at St. John's and Stilson, so Air Idaho landed at the top of the pass 09:21 — then fog moved in there too, the ship lifted empty, and Medic 60 ground-relayed the patient to a Driggs Fire–secured LZ at Mike Harris Campground; the helicopter departed with the patient ~09:56, destination transcribed as "Ermac" (likely EIRMC). Both lanes reopened 08:52. Patient condition/identity not stated on air.
- Second fog-blocked medevac: stroke call, North Alderwood Lane. 11:34 page for an 85-year-old male with stroke history. Air Idaho again could not get through the cloud layer to Stilson (12:12), so Medic 10 transported to a secured LZ at the top of Teton Pass; the patient was transferred to the aircraft and Medic 10 cleared the pass LZ 12:44.
- Two evening domestic-disturbance reports, both closed without arrest on air. 20:31 — third-hand report of a physical domestic behind the Base Camp on W. Highway 22 in Wilson; deputies plus a WHP unit found nothing (code four 20:37); a possible black Chevy van eastbound was checked, Stilson and Emily's Pond negative by 20:44. 22:55 — male reportedly aggressive with a female near East Pearl/South King; officers located the parties east of Willow and cleared at 23:12 after the pair "got an Uber home."
- Late-night burglary calls. 22:11 — reported burglary attempt in progress at a residence on North Ellen Creek Road [suspect road name], RP watching on surveillance as someone tried doors and windows; a unit cleared with a report taken 22:29. 22:17 — commercial burglary alarm with multiple motion hits at "TLS" on Buffalo Way; two town units responded, no disposition clearly logged.
- Overnight DUI arrest, East Broadway. Traffic stop just east of Willow at 01:19 on a silver Suburban; officer requested town-camera video of the vehicle running the blinking red at Cache and Broadway (01:51). A PBT result transcribed as ".18" [suspect] was aired 01:49; one female agreed to a blood test and was transported to jail at 02:00.
- Fog day generally: five fire-alarm responses (West Big Trail Dr 05:03 stood down; South Rabbit Brush Lane 05:14 — open door, entry made, unfounded; North Snake River Woods Dr 08:32 — false alarm; Tucker Ranch Road 17:20 — open building, unfounded; Blair Place commercial 20:00 — accidental, silenced), all unfounded or accidental.
Also on the air
A busy but routine background: ~36 plate checks and ~26 records checks, 7 traffic stops (mostly verbal warnings for speed), and 89 medical exchanges including repeated Medic 20 airport/flight-crew transfers overnight and midday. Other EMS runs: back pain from a fall, East Middle Meadow Road (09:25, to St. John's); difficulty breathing, East Hanson Ave (13:01, to St. John's); seizure, West King Eider Road [transcription unclear], 24-year-old, patient refusal (13:58–14:25); laceration from broken glass at Pecos Mexican Taqueria on Alpine Lane (14:38, to St. John's); a confused 38-year-old with stroke history who fell on the sidewalk at W. Broadway/S. Millward (19:38). Also: a livestock broadcast for a black cow out on Spring Gulch (04:12), Game & Fish handling an injured-deer call on Dog Creek and a hunter's lost bull elk near Mosquito Creek (16:22), a court arrest to jail (16:15), a non-injury vehicle-vs-gate collision at the Classical Academy on South Park Loop (19:33), five parking complaints, three welfare checks, a jail transport to/from Dubois, and a disabled vehicle blocking W. Broadway at Smith's (16:57–17:19). START buses worked around the morning pass closure with Stilson transfers, dead fuel pumps at the barn, and Snake River Canyon paving delays near Astoria; a school-bus channel (TG 1812, unlabeled) spent the afternoon coordinating student pickups.
By the numbers
- 2,574 transmissions across 771 exchanges (351 short status-only exchanges omitted from the log).
- Busiest talkgroup: TG 1801 Teton County law dispatch (1,338), then TG 1807 Fire/EMS (595) and TG 1820 START (182).
- Busiest hour: 08:00–09:00 with 279 transmissions (the Highway 22 crash), then 09:00 (213) and 20:00 (171).
- Categories: status 272, unclassified 249, medical 89, plate-check 36, transit 29, fire 27, records-check 26, traffic-complaint 10, traffic-stop 7, animal 6, crash 5, noise-parking 5, welfare/alarm 3 each, domestic 2, warrant-ops 1, suspicious 1.
Caveats
- TG 13751 is Fremont County (Lander) EMS/fire paging — the multi-department structure fire pages for North Fork Road, Fort Washakie (06:54–07:11) and roughly a dozen Lander EMS pages are not Teton County traffic and are excluded from the log. Likewise TG 109 (statewide WHP) and some TG 113/658x/6600 traffic covers I-80 and Green River/Rock Springs, not Jackson.
- Machine transcription is rough: unit numbers, plates and several dispositions are unreliable. Specific figures hedged above (PBT ".18," the "Ermac" destination, "Ellen Creek Road," "King Eider Road") come from single garbled lines.
- The 05:06 Teton Village "look for the suspect" run and the 09:19–09:33 attempted-contact/"subject not found" traffic are too garbled to characterize; no clear disposition was aired for the Buffalo Way burglary alarm.
