Jackson council to consider $160,997 bid for 4 new patrol SUVs

Jackson’s Town Council is set to vote Sept. 28 on Bid #27-01 to replace four Police Department patrol vehicles, with a single bid from Fremont Motors of Lander, Wyoming that would total $160,997 after trade-ins, and with the Town budgeting $320,000 in FY27 for purchase plus build-out. Staff say the Patrol Division needs all-wheel drive vehicles with higher clearance for winter and space for equipment, and they estimate Public Works will spend about 400 staff hours to build out the four units. I will be watching for two things: whether the “build-out” piece (the rest of that $320,000) is being bid separately or has a clear cap, and whether Council asks for a timeline on when these replacements get on the street. When we call 911 on a cold night, we need vehicles that start and respond, but we also need the Town to be straight about what the full cost is, not just the base purchase number.
