Jackson council to weigh rec center benefit tied to public rates

Jackson Town Council is set to consider a Recreation Center access benefit for town and county employees that would replace the old flat monthly fee with a subsidy tied to the public adult pass rate, a small procedural shift that would let the benefit rise or fall automatically with future fee changes. The proposal before council would set an individual employee membership at $25 a month, or 50 percent of the public adult annual rate, and a household membership at $50 a month for the employee plus up to two co-habitants, according to the meeting packet and an earlier county staff report.

The report says the Recreation Center has 244 active county staff memberships and 13 active town staff memberships under the current system, which has operated without a formal written policy. It would also add a new 10 percent discount on punch passes for seasonal and part-time employees. Staff told county commissioners in August that the change is meant to formalize the benefit, standardize eligibility, and avoid coming back for repeated policy revisions whenever public recreation fees change staff report.
