Teton County staff told commissioners the current construction estimate to add seasonal housing on a second floor above the new Coroner’s Facility is between $600,000 and $1,000,000 staff report.

As a parent, I read that as the price tag for one extra housing unit tied to a public-safety facility. It is also a glimpse of why it is so hard to build any workforce housing here, even when the county is already pouring a foundation for something else. The same staff report notes the project has $1,000,000 budgeted in FY27, with staff saying more design work on second-floor options would not significantly affect a potential construction start next year.
