Coroner facility housing design contract stays on the table

The Board of County Commissioners will keep considering whether to fold seasonal employee housing into the Coroner Facility Design Contract, a question that has already been through earlier review this summer. The staff report says Plan One Architects would need a $61,000 additional service fee to design the second floor for housing, after the county decided on July 7 to add that floor to the building.

That housing add-on is the part worth watching, because it changes the coroner project from a single-purpose facility into one that also creates county staff housing in Adams Canyon. The report says the county is currently funded at $1,000,000 for the project in FY27, so commissioners will be weighing whether the design expansion fits the budget and the broader housing need.
