Two hurt in Curtis Canyon crash; passersby drive them down the mountain to waiting ambulances

• Curtis Canyon crash sends one patient to St. John's. At 18:09 dispatch relayed, through a relay service, a report of a Volvo in a ditch up Curtis Canyon toward Sheep Creek. It was first described as a single occupant. At 18:40 the report was corrected on air: a male passenger had hit his head, and the female driver possibly had a broken wrist. The vehicle was later described at 18:48 as resting on its driver's side in the road. Neither patient had cell service, so passersby drove them down the switchbacks, and they switched vehicles partway. Medics 10 and 20 staged at the base of Curtis Canyon Road. Medic 20 reached the patients at 19:29 and arrived at St. John's at 19:57. Medic 10 cleared at 19:43 with a patient refusal. A tow removed the vehicle, and deputy 2259 cleared at 21:23.
• Worker slashes arm at East Broadway job site. At 09:59 dispatch sent Medic 10 and Battalion 3 to a job site at the Hitching Post on East Broadway. A 19-year-old man had cut his arm, coworkers were holding pressure, and he was in and out of consciousness. Station 6's Engine 61 and Medic 60 were already on Broadway and took the call, so Medic 10 was stood down at 10:01. Engine 61 cleared at 10:20, and Medic 60 appears to have gone to St. John's [suspect].
• Man reportedly follows couple through town; stop ends with a warning. At 22:19 an agitated caller reported a man in a red lifted Dodge Ram following their vehicle on Middle School Road toward South Park Loop. Dispatch told them to drive to the police station. Units 719, 730 and 770/778 converged as the vehicles passed Albertsons, then confronted each other at the Buffalo Way light, where the pickup peeled out. The callers reached the PD lot via Pearl. Unit 719 stopped the pickup near Maple Way and US-89 by the Super 8. At 22:55 that stop cleared with negative field sobriety tests and a warning about a registration sticker (link to the red Dodge likely but not stated). No protection order was on file, the nature of the complaint was never established on air, and trespass notices were discussed [suspect].
• Elk strike blocks Moose–Wilson Road. At 23:15 dispatch reported a vehicle-versus-elk collision on Moose–Wilson Road (WY-390, about MP 3) near Raintree [suspect]. A minivan was blocking the northbound lane and was reported totaled, and the injured elk was down in the southbound lane. No one was hurt. Deputy 2274 and a WHP trooper from Wilson responded. The last update, at 23:33, said the vehicle was on all wheels and leaking fluid.
• Disturbance at Miller Park. At 16:47 a caller said a man was yelling profanities and chasing her around Miller Park. Units 782, 779 and 753 responded, and 753 made contact by the tennis courts. Unit 759 tied him to a similar earlier disturbance at a business whose name was garbled on air. At 17:05 two women were released as victims, and deputies reported the man was under a prior trespass notice but not on probation. Deputies were working on a citation for him [suspect].
• Possible stroke at Gros Ventre Campground. At 05:56 Medic 10 was paged to Gros Ventre Campground at the request of park medics for a 77-year-old man with stroke symptoms. The patient was in the C loop on the east side. Medic 10 was on scene at 06:16 and arrived at St. John's at 06:40.

  • At 09:53 Engine 11 went to a home on West Calliope Drive. The call first aired as a residential fire alarm and was corrected to a gas detection alarm. Crews found no hazards (construction on site) and cleared at 10:17.
  • Medic 40 was out for training in the afternoon.
• Traffic enforcement:
  • Roughly 20 stops were called out on law dispatch.
  • Aired outcomes: verbal speed warnings at 07:07, 16:09 (school zone) and 23:36, and citations at 11:46, 14:47 and about 17:05.
  • WHP ran several stops along US-89 between MPs 129 and 144.
• Traffic complaints (WHP broadcasts for Jackson area):
  • 07:18: aggressive Jeep, eastbound WY-22 near MP 7.
  • 12:37: swerving car with its rear window out, northbound US-191 MP 20 (location uncertain).
  • 18:28: road rage on US-89 near MP 156. It happened at about 15:35: a pickup tailgated in stop-and-go traffic and passed on a double yellow.

  • Cold reports: a theft at the Exxon (09:47, interpreter assisting) and destruction of property (13:24).
  • A trespass report on Elk Camp Road [suspect] was unfounded; the people had the owner's permission.
  • Police were called to a family disturbance involving a juvenile at the Super 8 (16:16).
  • A man passed out on a bench outside the Virginian (02:12) appears linked to a jail transport at 02:24–02:29.
  • A driver offered dash-cam video of the previous day's crash at the Y.

  • Two moose jams on Lower Gros Ventre Road, with people standing in the roadway (08:24).
  • A thin, collarless loose dog (09:02).
  • A dog at large near Kelly/Willow; dogs were impounded at the shelter at 19:54.

  • Morning and afternoon delays from traffic on Gregory Lane, backed up to Maverick and later to Flat Creek Motel.
  • About six student hand-off problems (parents not at stops, wrong buses, a sleeping rider). All were resolved with parents.

Caveats

• Much of the traffic is not Teton County.
  • TG 13751 is Fremont County paging: Lander, Riverton and Dubois EMS, plus a 17:33 Dubois/Crowheart grass-fire and smoke page on Warm Springs Creek Road.
  • TG 113 and TG 109 carried Fremont, Sweetwater and Evanston traffic and a Cheyenne stolen-vehicle alert that was canceled four minutes later.
  • TG 6386/6382 also carry Rock Springs-area WHP. That includes the 23:25–23:38 report of a suicidal man near the tracks at Reliance (Sweetwater County), where deputies were making contact.
  • TG 6403 is labeled WYDOT but reads as Game & Fish wardens (Pinedale/Alpine), including a poaching report off Prater Canyon Road at 20:18.
• Talkgroup labels look wrong. TG 1812 appears to be school district bus dispatch. TG 1818 ("Teton law 2") carried fire tactical traffic.
• Transcription is unreliable.
  • Unit IDs shift within a call (719/718, 770/778, 753/759), and several place names are garbled ("Love and Jug," "Ilk Camp Road," "Hull," "Montana Road").
  • A TG 6382 tow request at 11:57 for a heavily damaged pickup gave no location.
  • It is unclear whether the 22:55 stop was the red Dodge from the 22:19 incident.
