Board of Health to hear Healthy Teton County health assessment update

The Teton District Board of Health is set to get an update Tuesday, Sept. 15 on the Healthy Teton County Community Health Needs Assessment, and I will be listening for what it says about the daily stuff that decides whether we stay healthy here: housing costs, transportation to work, and who actually has access to care. The agenda lists the update as a discussion item, so the practical question is what the Board wants staff and partners to do next, and whether there is any commitment to track progress in ways working families can feel. The latest assessment (the 2024 report) defines “Teton County” broadly as “anyone who works, lives, or plays” here and names social determinants of health like “safe and affordable housing” and “transportation” as core health drivers. It also notes Healthy Teton County added Voices JH as a partner, which matters for language access and immigrant families being included in the data, not treated like an afterthought. If you work odd hours or you do not have a primary care doctor, this is the meeting to watch for whether the conversation stays on paper or turns into concrete priorities.
