County to advance seasonal employee housing over new coroner facility

Teton County commissioners are set to move the Coroner’s Facility at Adams Canyon toward a two-story design that includes seasonal employee housing on the second floor, with architects directed to bring back multiple residential layout concepts (including a higher-occupancy “bunk house” option) for county review. The near-term decision point is whether to keep the housing component in the design work as the project moves through schematic design, design development, and construction documents. This housing add-on was approved in concept on July 7, 2026, and county materials put the overall project cost with housing at roughly $4.56 million to $5.84 million, with the timeline extending into early 2028. What I will be watching next is whether the county translates “seasonal employee housing” into a clear bed count and eligibility rules, or leaves it as a flexible design placeholder until late in the process.
