County contract change would shift Gaylord boxes, pallets cost to recycler

Teton County commissioners are set to vote Sept. 1 on a contract amendment that would require the county’s electronic-waste recycler, I.T. Refresh, to provide Gaylord boxes and pallets “at the contractor’s cost,” which county staff estimate would save about $635 each time a shipment goes out. For local businesses that drop off old computers, printers, and other electronics at the Recycling Center, this is the kind of behind-the-scenes line item that can keep disposal charges from creeping up when vendor costs rise. Staff’s pricing sheet in the packet lists “Provision of Gaylords/Pallets” as “At Cost (approximately $1200)” per delivery, and the amendment would shift that packaging bill to the contractor instead of the county.
