Teton County commissioners on Sept. 1 are set to vote on an extra $61,000 to Plan One/Architects to add seasonal employee housing into the design for the new coroner’s facility. The staff report says the county decided July 7 to put housing on a second floor above the facility, and now needs the architect and engineers to turn that decision into a code-ready design and permit set. The fee breakdown in the proposal includes $35,500 for architectural design/coordination, $10,000 for mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering, $10,500 for structural design, and $5,000 for conceptual programming. If we are serious about workforce housing, this is the kind of detail I want to see next, how many beds this “bunk house” option actually means, who qualifies, and whether it will work for real shift schedules, not just on-call needs.
