County to pay more per pound for recycled laptops and cell phones

Teton County commissioners are set to vote on a contract amendment that would increase the county’s revenue share on PC-type electronics (desktops, laptops, servers and similar devices) from $0.10 per pound to $0.25 per pound, and add a new $0.80 per pound revenue share for laptops and cell phones when they are packaged separately. For businesses and organizations that drop off old electronics, this is a reminder that packaging can change the bill, or the rebate. The vendor’s pricing sheet says the $0.80 per pound rate applies only if laptops and cell phones are “packaged separately and efficiently” with a minimum weight of 800 pounds per box, which is a high bar for small generators but realistic for larger cleanouts (offices, schools, property managers, hotels).
