Armed-threat disturbance on West Paintbrush Trail ends peacefully after crisis-counselor coordination

• Roommate threat call resolved without force. At 11:52 dispatch (TG 1801) sent units to a home on West Paintbrush Trail after an RP reported arriving home to a roommate threatening to kill them; notes said the subject owned a 9mm, had a psych flag and a history of biting/kicking officers. Multiple units staged, other occupants were texted out of the house, one unit (2272) arranged a mental-health counselor and crisis placement, and units deliberately minimized contact. At 12:13 the subject agreed to come out and meet officers; by 13:11 parties were separated and units cleared. A follow-up contact with the same subject at a Snow King Avenue apartment at 16:52 also cleared with notes by 17:22.
• Apartment smoke call traced to faulty toaster. At 13:27 Battalion 2 and Engine 11 (TG 1807) were paged to an East Hanson Avenue apartment building for an audible alarm and gray smoke, occupants evacuating. First air report said possible microwave; on scene the crew corrected it to a faulty toaster in a three-story wood-frame multi-family building. No flames, no injuries; the apartment was ventilated and turned over to property management by 13:47.
• Mercedes clocked at 117 mph on US-89 near High School Road. Around 15:17 a unit reported a black Mercedes SUV at 117 in a 55, kicking up dust and passing in the turn lane, northbound US-89; it was lost near the High School Road light. Officers noted a matching vehicle from a driving complaint stopped the previous night and added the registered-owner info to the event. Not located.
• Heavy loads keep grinding over Teton Pass. WYDOT (TG 6386/6382) logged four WIMS oversize crossings between 11:47 and 12:52 — 111,850 lb, 66,805 lb, 80,403 lb and 108,924 lb — after a 09:00 complaint of a semi hauling an I-beam stopped and blocking WY-22 in the construction zone near MM 12, suspected overweight. On a WYDOT channel at 11:51 staff remarked loads are running "damn near double the weight limit" over the pass.
• Evening disturbance downtown; suspect fled on foot. At 21:09 two units responded to a report of a male who tried to punch his girlfriend, possibly intoxicated. The male took off on foot eastbound on Pearl (green t-shirt, blue jeans); a canvass including the alley came up negative. Officers reported superficial scratches on a male party and ran victim/involved records; units were still with the RPs at 21:39.
• Shattered window dispute on US-89 south of Jackson. At 16:04 WYDOT relayed a complaint at MM 153 near the dealership south of town: an RP said her rear window shattered — "sounded like a gunshot" — as she passed a GMC Denali pulling onto the highway. Both vehicles pulled over; the other driver refused to exchange insurance without police. No further disposition in the log.

A unit was told at 21:41 to stand by on a pending Search and Rescue in the Poison Creek area — no further traffic logged. Parking/camping complaints (Virginia Lane, East Broadway/Nelson, Target lot, East Grandview), a loose but friendly pit bull on Powderhorn Lane, a Game & Fish black bear update (trap already set; trash-raiding near Vista East/Oak Drive, likely Alpine area), a repeat 911 hang-up address on West Snow King (04:47, code 4), a welfare check resolved when the subject was reached alive and well in Alaska (20:46), and a Teton Village noise complaint at the Caldera House called in by Hotel Terra (21:55). START buses spent the day managing the Pearl Street construction closure (closed ~06:00 between Cash and King; reopened 16:37) plus a driver 15 minutes down after picking up 37 children.

Caveats

• Significant non-Teton traffic in today's log: TG 13751 is Fremont County EMS/fire paging (Riverton/Lander — including two grass fires there), TG 13700 appears to be Riverton PD, and TG 109/6586/6382 carried mostly Rock Springs–Evanston I-80 traffic. These are excluded from the local picture above.
• Whisper transcription is rough throughout: unit numbers, street names and phonetic spellings are frequently garbled (e.g., the 13:32 fire size-up rendered "appears to be cocaine," almost certainly "contained"). Lines marked [suspect] are low-confidence; treat exact addresses, plates and unit IDs as unverified.
• The downtown disturbance location (21:09) and several road references are garbled in transcription; the SAR entry (21:41) has no follow-up traffic, so its outcome is unknown.
