Planning Commission to review PM26-016 land regulation redline Sept. 2

Jackson’s Planning and Zoning Commission will review the PM26-016 Biennial Land Development Regulation Update redline on Sept. 2, a package staff previewed as roughly “35-40 minor LDR amendments” plus a handful of bigger calls that need commissioner direction and likely public comment meeting agenda.

For housing, the biggest thing to watch is whether the commission leans toward keeping hotel restaurants, bars, and spas on the hook for full workforce housing mitigation, even when the amenity is marketed as “for guests,” a direction a majority of commissioners signaled in August. Staff has also been working through multifamily parking standards, including a proposal discussed previously to require one guest space per 15 units, which can affect project feasibility and how much land is left for homes instead of asphalt agenda packet.
