Planning Commission to hash out PM26-016 land regulation redline Sept. 2

The Jackson Planning and Zoning Commission is set to review the PM26-016 Biennial Land Development Regulation Update redline on Sept. 2, the working markup of a package of roughly 35 to 40 changes staff says are meant to fix errors, clarify messy sections, and address issues that keep coming up in day to day permitting. For folks who live or work out on the valley edge, I am watching the nuts and bolts items that change how a site has to function in winter and how it gets serviced. Staff flagged snow storage as one of the discussion points, noting Jackson currently requires “a minimum site area of 2.5%” of required parking and loading area for snow storage, compared to higher standards in other mountain towns. The same update package also carries proposed text on trash and recycling, and a list of other topics the commission has already started chewing on, including hotel amenity space mitigation, guest parking for multi family projects, and alley use. Staff told the commission in August that the Sept. 2 redline presentation is intended to roll up their workshop input into a full proposal with “analysis and a formal recommendation” for the next steps in the amendment process.
