Jackson Council to vote on Planning Commission nominee for 2026-29 term

Jackson Town Council is set to decide Tuesday whether to consent to the mayor’s recommended appointment to the Planning Commission/Board of Adjustment for a three-year term that would run Aug. 1, 2026 through July 31, 2029 agenda packet.

Staff say the recommended nominee meets the Town’s eligibility rules, including the one-year Town residency requirement and the restriction that no one holding another Town public office can serve. The council will also be asked to consider that the Land Development Regulations call for “special consideration” for applicants with experience or education in planning, law, architecture, natural resource management, real estate, and related fields. Staff report that eight people applied, two were disqualified on residency, and the nominee was picked from six qualified applications.
