Council to revisit automatic fee waivers for 100% deed-restricted housing

The Jackson Town Council will review the Town’s 100% deed-restricted housing fee waiver policy on Aug. 17, including whether to modify an approach that would automatically waive certain permit review fees for projects that are entirely permanently deed-restricted, regardless of sponsor or developer workshop packet.

Staff’s report notes that the council directed staff in a July 19, 2021 workshop to draft a resolution to make these waivers automatic, but “the resolution was never finalized or brought forward for adoption due to an oversight on staff’s part.” The practical question for residents to listen for is how broad the waiver should be (and whether it should be formalized at all) as more deed-restricted projects get proposed, since the policy applies to Town permit review fees but not to capacity and connection fees for services like water and sewer.
