Lodging tax board to weigh 'La Fuerza Impulsora' for mental health outdoors

On Aug. 13, the Jackson Hole Travel and Tourism Board is set to review the Camina Conmigo proposal, 'La Fuerza Impulsora de Nuestra Comunidad,' a strategic partnerships request that frames outdoor group activities as mental health support for the local workforce.

The Jackson Hole Travel and Tourism Board is set to review a Strategic Partnerships Funding proposal called “La Fuerza Impulsora de Nuestra Comunidad” (The Driving Force of Our Community), built around Camina Conmigo outdoor activities as a way to support community mental health, especially for workers who spend the week on their feet and still have to show up the next day. The presentation frames participants as “the Jackson Hole workforce” and includes testimonials about stress relief, routine changes, and feeling more motivated. If this funding moves forward, I want board members to ask the practical questions that decide whether working people can actually use it, not just admire it. When are activities scheduled, are there options for late-night and early-morning shift workers, is child care a barrier, and will Spanish-first participants be able to get information and sign up without hunting for a translator? A program that helps mental health only helps us if it fits real schedules and real access, not just a pretty idea on a slide.
