County notes 55 Level 2 and up to 40 fast EV chargers due by 2027

Teton County is pointing to a federal Department of Transportation Community Fueling and Infrastructure grant as the funding path to add 55 new Level 2 charging stations and up to 40 new DC fast charging stations in the valley by the end of 2027, with “many coming online for next summer’s travel season” Yellowstone-Teton Clean Cities staff report.

The staff report frames the buildout as a capacity and visitor-readiness issue. It says the county currently has 28 stations and 70 charging ports, including 31 ports at 11 lodging establishments, and estimates today’s public network could accommodate up to 68 vehicles per day if chargers were utilized continuously at typical dwell times. The report also notes most electric vehicle drivers charge at home, so local demand for public charging varies widely day to day. Commissioners will be able to press staff on where the new Level 2 and fast chargers would actually go, and what performance metrics (usage and emissions reductions) the county plans to track once the stations are online.
