Parks board to hear how Snake River permit violations get reported
On Aug. 11, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board will get an update on a new violation reporting portal and clearer enforcement steps under the Snake River Management Plan, including how permit suspensions or revocations would be appealed.
The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board is set to review a new violation allegation reporting portal and tightened compliance procedures for the Snake River Management Plan at its Aug. 11 meeting. Parks and Recreation staff say the changes are meant to let them “review and address reported compliance issues more consistently” and take enforcement action under existing permit conditions, instead of handling problems in a more informal, case by case way. If the department moves to suspend or revoke an operator’s permit, the board should expect to be the one hearing the appeal. The report says “permit breaches, which apply to the permit as a whole” can trigger suspension or revocation, and any formal appeal hearing would be held directly before the advisory board.
