Weed and Pest District asks to keep a 1.0 mill property-tax levy for FY27

Teton County commissioners are set to certify a 1.0 mill levy for the Weed and Pest Control District for FY27, which the county assessor’s packet shows at about $4.11 million in 2026 taxes based on current assessed values.

Teton County’s Weed and Pest Control District is asking the Board of County Commissioners to certify a 1.0 mill levy for FY27 to fund district operations and projects, as part of Monday’s mill-levy setting. In the county assessor’s packet, that 1.0 mill line is shown producing about $4,111,038.97 in 2026 taxes, up from about $3,805,454.43 in 2025, because the underlying assessed valuation grew. See the mill levy setting packet.

If you pay property taxes on a commercial building, this is one of the smaller line items, but it is still a dedicated tax for a single district. The question to watch is not whether the rate changes (the packet shows it staying at 1.000), but whether commissioners ask for clearer reporting on what projects are actually being delivered with the levy, especially as the dollars collected rise with valuations even when the mill rate is flat.
