Commissioners tee up Aug. 31 special meeting on START service levels

START riders should circle Aug. 31, when the Teton County commissioners plan a special meeting focused on the START budget and “level of service alternatives” for the coming fiscal year, per the future-items list in Monday’s joint meeting agenda Regular Joint Meeting agenda.

The agenda does not say what the alternatives are, but this is the kind of discussion where peak commute frequency, evening service, and coverage to outlying areas can get squeezed or expanded depending on dollars. For context, the most recently published FY2027 START budget breakout I could find totals about $7.46 million across fixed route ($5,646,482), ADA service ($182,933), on-demand ($1,463,050), and Grand Targhee service ($166,231) START Board packet. If you rely on a specific run to get to work, a trailhead, or back from a late shift, Aug. 31 is the meeting where to watch for hints about which trips might be on the chopping block, and which ones might finally get added.
