County is set to discuss a childcare access platform by Dec. 2026

Teton County commissioners are set to hear an update Aug. 3 on the county’s promise to “develop a platform for alignment, advocacy, and a vision for collective action” aimed at more affordable early childhood education and care by December 2026 Strategic initiatives presentation. The slide deck says staff have been “socializing ideas with partners” and are working on informational materials in English and Spanish, plus participation in the Expanded Learning Collective with the Community Foundation.

For working families, the practical question is whether this turns into a place you can actually go to find help, or if it stays a planning effort. I will be watching for what the “platform” means in real life (a website, a referral and enrollment tool, a funding plan, or something else), and what measures the county will use to prove it made child care cheaper or easier to access. The county’s recent approach has leaned heavily on funding existing providers, including $290,030 budgeted for the Children’s Learning Center for FY2027 plus in kind facility support valued around $566,460 a year (per prior county budget materials).
