Town Council to rewrite contractor licensing rules, but no costs stated

Jackson’s Town Council is set to take up Ordinance F, a proposed rewrite of the town’s contractor licensing requirements, during its Aug. 3 meeting, with both a 45 minute discussion item and an ordinance action item on the agenda meeting agenda.

The agenda does not include a staff report, draft ordinance text, or any fiscal note describing whether licensing fees would change, whether enforcement would require additional Building and Planning staff time, or how compliance will be measured. If you are in the trades, or you hire them, this is the kind of ordinance where the details matter, so I will be watching for a clear explanation of (1) what problem the town is trying to solve, (2) what new requirements or penalties are being added, and (3) whether any fee schedule changes are coming with it.
