Town Council to review future wastewater plant capacity analysis Aug. 3

Jackson’s Town Council is set to review a Future Wastewater Treatment Plant Capacity Analysis at its Aug. 3 meeting, with 60 minutes scheduled under Public Works in the agenda meeting agenda.

For those of us who watch water quality in the Snake River and the valley’s shallow groundwater, the key question is whether this analysis points toward building for higher peak flows, or tightening up what already burdens the system (inflow and infiltration, energy use, and discharge limits). Council’s direction here matters because the last detailed technical review I have seen publicly aired (Trihydro’s September 2022 update) leaned toward aeration modifications as a lower cost way to meet future needs, rather than a wholesale plant expansion. If this 2026 capacity analysis is new, ask what assumptions it uses about buildout and seasonal population, and whether it is tied to permit limits from the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality.
