County set to revisit $610,313 a year for public health nursing

Teton County commissioners on Tuesday are scheduled to consider an agreement with the Wyoming Department of Health that would pay the county $610,313.60 a year, or $1,220,627.20 over two years, for public health nursing and maternal and child health services MOU packet.

The packet frames the money as the backbone funding for keeping the county health department operating independently of the state, but with state support and oversight. The agreement’s performance period runs July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2028, so the practical question for Tuesday is whether commissioners are comfortable taking on another two year cycle of state tied funding at that level, and the reporting obligations that come with it, before the county is too far into the budget year to easily replace it.
