Stallion Ranch contested case is set for August hearing
Teton County's calendar sets an August 10 hearing for the Stallion Ranch contested case, a zoning fight over whether the former Bar J commercial exception still applies.
Teton County has scheduled the Stallion Ranch contested case hearing for 10:30 a.m. August 10, according to the county commissioners' calendar. The question is whether Stallion Ranch, LLC can keep using the former Bar J Chuckwagon property under a 1977 commercial zoning exception, or whether neighborhood challengers can force the county to treat the site as residential.
That is a property-rights fight worth watching closely. Long-running exceptions, event uses and successor ownership all matter in a county where many properties have histories that do not fit neatly into today's zoning boxes. Willowbrook and Teton Pines associations have argued the exception expired after Bar J closed in 2021; Stallion Ranch is trying to preserve commercial use of the site.
