County to consider Stage 1 fire restrictions countywide

Teton County commissioners are set to consider a Stage 1 (partial) fire restrictions resolution that would put unincorporated Teton County under a partial fire closure, prohibiting open fires “until further notice,” except for a short list of controlled uses like enclosed charcoal grills, portable stoves, and campfires in established fire rings at established campgrounds R Board Meeting Agenda.

Fire/EMS staff say fire danger is currently rated “High,” with increased potential for starts and limited available resources, and they are recommending countywide alignment with regional partners. The staff report notes the board already approved Stage 1 restrictions for the Alta area on July 7, and this action would extend Stage 1 restrictions to the rest of the county’s unincorporated area Stage 1 Fire Restrictions Resolution.
