Joint boards to decide whether to keep Pennrose on Virginian Lane
On July 14, the Teton County Commission and Jackson Town Council will take a make-or-break vote on whether to proceed with Pennrose on the 90 Virginian Lane workforce housing plan or end negotiations and punt the site’s future to 2027.
The Teton County Board of County Commissioners and the Jackson Town Council are set to vote July 14 on whether to keep negotiating with Pennrose to build the 90 Virginian Lane affordable workforce housing development, or terminate talks and wait until 2027 to choose a different path for the site joint meeting packet.
Staff are expected to present two options: proceed with Pennrose on a 221-home plan (70% rentals, 30% ownership), or end negotiations and consider alternatives next year, including selling the property or restarting a developer selection process. Staff recommend moving forward, pegging total public investment at $45 million (about $203,620 per home) and citing the project’s ability to leverage more than $100 million in private funding joint meeting packet.
