$92,500 Jackson Bike Park build cost is in front of parks board
Friends of Pathways puts a $92,500 construction budget on the table for the Jackson Bike Park; staff has reviewed the application and the parks advisory board is set to discuss whether it moves forward in the Capital Improvement Plan pipeline.
Friends of Pathways is asking Teton County/Jackson Parks and Recreation to treat the Jackson Bike Park as a $92,500 capital build, with the estimate covering “trail layout, construction, and materials,” according to the application in a staff review packet for the upcoming meeting. The question for the system is whether that full construction budget, and the assumptions behind it, is solid enough to advance the project in the Community-Initiated Park Projects process. For taxpayers and donors, the part to watch is how the $92,500 estimate gets validated, and what it does not include. The packet says the estimate is based on “Previous trail construction projects,” which is a starting point, not a bid, and the CIPP policy is explicit that getting onto the unscheduled list “does not constitute a commitment of public funds.” If this moves forward, the next debate will be whether it stays fully privately funded or becomes a cost-share ask that competes with other capital projects.
