Lodging tax board to weigh Mountain Bike the Tetons $3,600 request
On July 9, the Jackson Hole Travel and Tourism Board will discuss a $3,600 strategic partnerships request from Mountain Bike the Tetons to help pay a trail crew for maintenance work on public-access trails in Teton County.
The Jackson Hole Travel and Tourism Board is set to discuss a $3,600 strategic partnerships request from Mountain Bike the Tetons for its “Wyoming Trail Stewardship and Preservation” work on July 9. The group says the money would help cover paid trail-crew time to maintain 12 public-access natural surface trails in Teton County, including Millcreek Trail, Aspen Trail, and Mail Cabin Trail. See the request in the board agenda and application materials, Lodging Tax Board Meeting Agenda.
In its application, Mountain Bike the Tetons says it would use the funds “to support MBT's full-time, seasonal Trail Crew” and budget the work as “up to 72 hours of professional trail work at a rate of $25 per hour.” For residents and visitors alike, this is the kind of low-dollar maintenance spending that tends to pay off in fewer closures, less erosion, and less pressure on agencies that are already stretched thin.
