County to award 5-road chip seal job, low bid $460,950
Teton County commissioners are set to approve an American Road Maintenance contract to chip seal and fog seal five county roads, with work scheduled mid-July through Aug. 21 and $2,000 per-day late damages.
Teton County commissioners are set to approve a $460,950 contract with American Road Maintenance (Arizona) for this summer’s county chip seal program, covering five roads and funded out of Road and Levee’s fiscal year 2027 County Road Fund 18 budget. The scope is chip seal and fog seal on the south 2,250 feet of South Park Loop Road (starting at US Highway 89) plus all of Henry’s Road, West Elk Avenue, Deer Drive, and Boyles Hill Road, according to the county’s packet. If approved, the contract says the county would issue a “Notice to Proceed” around July 15, with completion due by Aug. 21. For businesses, this is the kind of work that can turn into short-notice lane closures, flaggers, dust, and “why is my delivery driver stuck” afternoons, so it’s worth asking the county what traffic control and day-by-day sequencing will look like for each road before crews show up. The agreement also sets liquidated damages at $2,000 per calendar day if the job runs late. R Board Meeting Agenda
