County commissioners pressed Federal Highway Administration for a full study of WY-22

Teton County’s Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously to send a May 19 letter asking the Federal Highway Administration to take a harder look at the WY-22 rebuild, and to fully consider a locally developed “community alternative” alongside Wyoming Department of Transportation’s work May 19, 2026 Regular Mtg.

For commuters over the pass, the most telling line in the discussion was that commissioners want options that “may differ from more traditional highway designs,” and they explicitly added language that the alternative could “be less expensive.” That is not a construction schedule or a new design yet, but it is the county trying to widen the set of solutions on the table before WYDOT and the feds lock in the scope, and the price tag, for the next phase.
