Hoback water project would get $300,000 backstop
County commissioners are set to add a $300,000 contingency backstop for the Hoback Junction water system after the district said WWDC would not let the project bid without it.
Teton County commissioners are teeing up a $300,000 backstop for the Hoback Junction Water and Sewer District after the district said the Wyoming Water Development Commission would not let the water project go out to bid without a larger contingency cushion. The county already had $3 million committed, but the district told commissioners it was short by about $495,000 once WWDC required a 15% contingency, and the district said it would cover the other $200,000 itself if needed Jun 08, 2026 Voucher Mtg.
That makes this less a fresh grant than a funding holdback tied to bidding and cost control. Commissioners pressed for a cross-check on the numbers and said they preferred to keep the $300,000 in county contingency rather than immediately move it through the SPET schedule. The packet later brought the same request back as Amendment #3 to the Hoback funding resolution, saying the money would stay with the county and be released only if the 15% contingency actually gets used BCC Packet, Amendment 3 to the Resolution for Hoback Junction Water and Sewer District.
