County to implement Fast Track Permits Act for smaller homes July 1

Teton County commissioners are set to discuss how the county will roll out Wyoming’s Fast Track Permits Act on July 1, including how staff will handle qualifying residential building permits under the law’s 10-day completeness notice and 30-day decision deadlines.

Teton County’s Board of County Commissioners will get an implementation update June 22 on how Planning and Building plans to comply with Wyoming’s new Fast Track Permits Act starting July 1 for qualifying residential building permits, including detached one- or two-family homes and townhouses up to 3,000 sq ft per unit Fast Track Permits packet.

The law sets a hard procedural clock. Staff told commissioners the county must send applicants written notice within 10 business days on whether an application is complete, then approve or deny a completed application within 30 calendar days, with limited “clock-stop” options. If the county misses the deadline, the application is “deemed approved as submitted,” even though inspections still apply before a certificate of occupancy. The board is not scheduled for a formal vote on the rollout, but commissioners can use the discussion to push for guardrails before the July 1 effective date.
