County approves Jackson police aid pact for county roads

The Board of County Commissioners approved an extraterritorial agreement with the Town of Jackson that lets Jackson police officers assist in unincorporated parts of Teton County under Wyoming law.

The Board of County Commissioners approved an extraterritorial law enforcement agreement with the Town of Jackson that keeps Jackson police officers available for calls in unincorporated Teton County when the Wyoming statute allows it. The staff report says the same arrangement has been in place for 25 years and that the memo covers request-based assistance, fresh pursuit, and written assignments under Wyoming Statute § 7-2-106(b) BCC Packet -- Extraterritorial Agreement for Law Enforcement with Town of Jackson.

The memo also sorts out who pays when officers cross jurisdictional lines. It says there is no payment between the parties for the agreement itself, but costs and equipment damage are assigned differently depending on which of the four triggering conditions applies.
