Planning Commission to weigh 8-foot street setback at 410 W Alta Ski Hill Rd

Teton County’s Planning Commission on June 15 will consider Daniel M. Anderson’s request to cut the required 25-foot street setback to 8 feet for a detached garage on a 0.11-acre Alta lot, with staff recommending approval and no conditions.

Teton County’s Planning Commission is set to decide June 15 whether to grant Daniel M. Anderson a variance that would shrink the required 25-foot street setback to 8 feet for a new detached garage at 410 W Alta Ski Hill Road in Alta, according to the meeting agenda.

In the staff report, Planning and Building Services says the 0.11-acre lot is an interior tract more than 175 feet from the nearest public roadway, and that applying the full street setback leaves too little buildable width for a garage without redesigning the site. Staff recommends approving the setback reduction with no conditions, framing it as a minimal request tied to an older, pre-zoning subdivision layout and existing on-site parking patterns variance packet.
