Anderson's Alta garage request would cut Teton Creek setback to 60 feet
Planning commissioners are set to review Daniel Morris Anderson's request to reduce the 100-foot perennial stream setback to about 60 feet for a garage at 410 W Alta Ski Hill Road.
The Teton County Planning Commission will review Daniel Morris Anderson's request June 15 to vary the 100-foot perennial stream setback at 410 W Alta Ski Hill Road for a detached garage agenda. The 0.11-acre Tract H lot sits beside Teton Creek in Alta, and staff says the existing 1,020 sq ft house is already about 20 feet from the creek under rules updated May 1, 2025.
The garage would sit about 60 feet from the ordinary high water mark, farther from Teton Creek than the house, and would enclose vehicle parking now happening on gravel staff packet. Staff recommends approval with no conditions and says no public comments had been received when the report was published. Creek setbacks are not paperwork for anyone who depends on clean water downstream, so the question is whether replacing bare-ground parking with a garage slab is enough protection inside the buffer.
