Adult, senior and youth fees draw pushback before parks meeting

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board is set to review written comments Tuesday opposing higher 2026 fees, including requests for senior discounts.

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board is set to review written comments Tuesday opposing higher 2026 recreation fees for adults, seniors and youth, including several requests for a break for older residents public comments. The comments include “do not raise adult fees,” “do not increase fees, especially for locals,” and multiple calls for discounts for residents over 65 or 70.

For families, the question is whether a July 1 fee change will make the Recreation Center harder to fit into a monthly budget for parents, grandparents and kids. The department says staff are preparing for the new fee structure on July 1 department report, and the board’s Tuesday meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Recreation Center agenda.
