Hidden Ranch wants 15 mph, Town is starting the speed study

Jackson Town Council is set to kick off a speed zone study for the Hidden Ranch subdivision after an HOA petition to drop neighborhood street speeds from 25 mph to 15 mph, citing no sidewalks, limited visibility on curves, and kids walking in the road.

Hidden Ranch is asking for a slower, calmer neighborhood, and the Town is teeing up the paperwork to see if that is justified. On June 1, the Jackson Town Council is expected to direct the Town Manager to initiate a formal speed zone study for streets inside the Hidden Ranch subdivision, after the Hidden Ranch HOA petitioned for a reduction from 25 mph to 15 mph, pointing to no sidewalks, curvy streets that cut visibility, on street parking that pushes pedestrians into traffic, and families with children in the neighborhood, per the packet materials. What to watch for is how the Town defines the scope and timeline, because studies have a way of turning into a long wait while the problem stays put. Staff say the work can be folded into the current workload, they expect to start within about 90 days of Council direction, then return to Council at a later regular meeting with findings and a recommendation. If you live out there, this is the moment to be clear about where the near misses happen, and whether you are asking for just signs, or actual street design that makes drivers slow down even when nobody is watching.
